Teen Mental Health Treatment During Summer Break

With over 18% of youth ages 11-17 considering suicide, and nearly 9% attempting suicide, according to the CDC, it is clear there is an urgent need for our teens to receive mental health treatment when needed. Unfortunately, nearly 60% of youth who need mental health treatment are not receiving that help. CDC statistics show that untreated mental health conditions in teens lead to poor school performance, substance use, and seven times higher risk of encounters with the criminal justice system. Even in situations where the teens themselves and/or their parents recognize the need for mental health treatment, many times they do not seek that treatment. The reasons are varied and numerous, many parents simply do not know where to turn for help, whether they can afford that help, how their child can get help without missing school, and how it will impact their family life.

Aspire Counseling Services understands the concerns parents have when it comes to mental health treatment for their teenagers. That is why they offer many options that resolve these concerns. Aspire accepts most major insurance for treatment so parents do not need to worry about affording the treatment. A simple phone call to Aspire will determine whether their insurance is accepted and set their mind at ease over the cost of treatment.

Our proven Intensive Outpatient Treatment program (IOP) at Aspire addresses the unique challenges faced by adolescents ages 12 to 17 with mental health issues, substance use disorder, or who may be experiencing an overwhelming crisis. A major benefit of Aspire’s Adolescent IOP is the design as a short-term program that allows young people to stay in school and maintain much of their daily routine, including time at home. Summer break offers even more opportunities for teens to receive mental health treatment without disrupting their schooling.
